Since
their introduction in 1997, DVDs have made incredible strides in becoming
a mainstream media storage option.
DVDs are the same size and shape as CDs...but If you look closely, you
will notice that most DVDs are made of 2 layers. By using smaller pits
and lands, dual layers, and a bit of technical magic, DVDs can hold 7
to 25 times more than CDs!
Like CDs, DVDs are a compatible storage media that can be used for video,
audio, or any type of file that can be stored on a hard drive.

Similar
to CD-Rs, DVD-Rs are blank discs which are used to record data. They are
single sided, single layered discs that hold a maximum of 4.7 gigabytes
of data or about 2 hours of Video/Audio content. Disc Logic uses top quality
white printable DVD-Rs and can print 1 to 4 color label art directly on
the disc.

DVD-5s
are single sided, single layered "replicated" discs that hold
4.7 gigabytes of data. The data is accessed from the underside, and the
top of the disc is used for silk screened label art. Only one layer contains
data, the top layer is blank. |

DVD-9s
are single sided, dual layered discs that hold up to 8 Gigabytes of data
or around 3-4 hours of video/audio content. The data is accessed from 2
layers from the underside, and the top of the disc is available for a full
silk screened label.
